Historically, the artworks range from a 1964 drawing by the celebrated late illustrator Jeremiah Goodman, whose work is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, to a lithograph by Myles Calvert, former art professor at Alfred University, created in 2019. On view at GO ART! is a survey exhibition consisting of 26 artworks in all media by LGBTQ+ artists selected from the extensive art collection of Gerald Mead from Buffalo, NY. This exhibition, which focuses on the visual arts, highlights and celebrates that legacy as evidenced by the achievements of artists connected to Western New York and reinforces the mission of GLOW OUT! - “to provide education and awareness of and around the LGBTQ+ community.” Their collective talents have been an integral part of the cultural life of society. Members of the LGBTQ+ community have a long and distinguished history of contributions to all disciplines of the creative arts.
